We are twinned with Potter's Village, Uganda!
Thank you for all the support with Potter's Village We have been twinned since January 2025 and raised over £500 from staff and patients. All proceeds go directly to their health centre, funding those most in need.
What is Friends of Potter's Village?
Friends of Potter's Village is a UK Charity supporting the work of Potter's Village Ministries, by raising funds and raising awareness of the work being carried out among children and their families in Kisoro, SW Uganda.
Kisoro is very poor, struggling with AIDS, malaria, malnutrition and Congo refugees.
Potter's Village comprises of:
- all-age outpatient drop-in clinics
- immunisation clinics
- two paediatric inpatient wards
- a nutritional rehab centre
- an antenatal unit
- a paediatric disability rehab centre
- a child crisis centre for abandoned infants.
The aims of the twinning are:
- Financial support: to prevent any of the donations being spend on extra admin monitoring our contributions we don't know the value of this but a number of staff (and a couple of patients) have mentioned one off or regular giving so thank you!
- Volunteering opportunity: for medical students/staff passing through the practice: three students so far have expressed an interest exploring a potential future elective with a project at Potters Village.
- Perspective: we hope the waiting room posters help remind staff and patients alike just how lucky we are with our with our NHS, dedicated staff and facilities.
