ONLINE ACCESS TO RECORD CHANGES

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRACTICE

In line with the NHS England GP contract 2019 GP practices across the country have been instructed to provide all patients over 16 years with access to their detailed medical records online from the 1st November 2022. 

The practices comprising Healthwest PCN including The Family Practice, Pembroke Road Surgery, Whiteladies Medical Group and Students’ Health Service have collaboratively undertaken a great of deal of work in preparing for the date when patients would be able to view their detailed medical record online. 

We are very aware that this change will provide many benefits for the vast majority of the population, however preparatory work throughout the Bristol locality and wider has highlighted a number of areas where current GP health systems are not able to safely implement this change for all patients. 

The system changes required to ensure this safe transition of practice will take time and GP surgeries nationally, including our PCN, do not feel that it is appropriate to make these changes now at time of high GP practice demand where continued delivery of good quality primary health care remains our utmost priority. 

This decision will be kept under review. We anticipate that with support from larger local and national organisations that we will ultimately be able to make the steps more confidently toward safely providing detailed access to medical records online.
