New Appointment System – Easy Read

From 1st October 2025, we’re introducing a new way to request routine appointments at The Family Practice.

Routine Appointments – Online Only

To request a routine GP or clinician appointment, you must now submit an online consultation using our secure Accurx system (available via our website or here). Available during our core hours: 8:00am – 6:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Your request will be reviewed by our clinical team, and you’ll receive a reply within 1 working day. If needed, we’ll send you a text message with a link to book an appointment.

Same-Day Urgent Appointments – Phone Only

If your issue is urgent and can’t wait, please call us on 0117  946 6455. Do not use the online form for urgent or emergency issues.

Need Help Using the Online Form?

If you’re unable to use the online form due to age, disability, or language barriers, please call reception. Our team will help you submit the form over the phone.

Treatment Room Appointments (e.g. blood tests, dressings)

Please continue to call reception to book these appointments.

Why are we making this change?

This new system:

  • Ensures fairer access based on medical need (not who calls first)
  • Saves you waiting on hold
  • Helps us get you to the right person faster
  • Supports NHS guidance for improving general practice access

Appointment Booking Tips

  • If no appointments are available when you receive your booking link, please try again the next working day at 10am, when new appointments are released.
  • Booking links expire after 7 days.
